Jumilla is located in the southeast of Spain, in the northern Region of Murcia, and has a moderate altitude of 550m (1800ft) above sea level. The land is brown and limy, with a great water capacity and medium permeability, which allows the vines to subsist through lengthy draught conditions. It is a continental climate, influenced by the proximity of the Mediterranean, as well as a sunny and dry place, where the sun shines 3,000 hours a year and rain is scant (about 300 l/m2). We own 60 hectares (150 acres) of our own vineyards, comprising non-irrigated and irrigated fields, grafted and non-grafted vines in various terrains and climates. This gives us the ability to select the best grapes from each vineyard for their final destination, the wine they will become. |
